2008 Financial Crisis - A Heritage Point of View

On Monday, September 29 as I watch the House of Rep not pass the Bailout Bill and the biggest point drop ever 777.68 on the market. I did not panic as the President may have suggested last week. Instead I thought of where I came from, my heritage. I thought of my ancestors. They made it over on a boat (I know, because I traced it); they gave them scraps to eat and now we have a major cuisine - Soul Food. They had in them survival instincts. This is the time where we have to pull out of us our survival instincts, because we know it is in us. We have to learn to do without less. We have to start paying off bills, instead of creating bills. This is not the time to panic about your investments or 401k. We just have to be patient, be wise and remember that we come from a stock of people that survived through the worst of circumstances.

2008 Financial Crisis - Spiritual Viewpoint

As I watched the Bailout Bill not pass the House on Monday and the market plunge to 777.68. I thought of a lot of things. I did not panic as the President may have suggested last week. I didn't want to pull the money from my 401k or investments. First of all, my God is bigger then all of this. Plus, isn't 7 God's perfect number; now we know 777 is the perfect number's for a gambler (which I am not). Didn't He say, " That He would supply all my needs according to His riches and glory". His not mine or the world's. Do you think that when God told Noah to build the Ark, then take two of every animal and his family in the ark; the earth will be flooded. He did not stop and before he closed the Ark door and say 'God how many days are we going to be in this state, we may not have enough food'. No, Noel closed the door of the Ark and knew that God would supply all their needs. He trusted Him. Remember, the widow's oil in 2 Kings 4:1-7, when she cried out to the man of God and his response was, what do you have in your house? She had oil. He told her to borrow jugs and containers from neighbors and then go in your house with sons and lock the door and pour oil into them then set it aside. She poured until she had no more containers. She then went back to the man of God and he told her to go and pay off her debt and you and your sons live off what is left over. In the time of crisis this tells us that God cares for His faithful who are in need and distress. Also, she did not hesitate to respond to the instructions of the man of God in faith and obedience. This is the time to stay in prayer and build up your faith. Knowing that God has your back. Remember, He is our JEHOVAH-JIREH. This is the time to pray the Prayer of Committal. You can commit yourself and all of the cares and worries of your mind to Him and enjoy divine peace. This is truly the season to before more faithful and committed. This is the time to give over everything to God and have greater FAITH then ever. My personal reminder is the birds chirping in the morning (sometimes to early), going about their day. Knowing that their creator will provide them with the food they need to survive. Be strong and know that God knows what you need and has your back.
